LAB Chair – Ellie Gamble

Governance Ellie Gamble

My husband and I have a ‘blended’ family of four adult children and two grandchildren. We are keen independent travellers. I love theatre, history, cinema, football (but only as a spectator), live music, cooking and reading. I am the Chair of LAB for Wixams Academy.

Vice Chair of LAB – Daniel Sosnowski

I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve as a LAB at Wixams Academy. My family and I moved to Wixams last summer, and we were immediately struck by the warm sense of community that embodies this area. It’s inspiring to see the role Wixams Academy plays at the heart of our community, and as a parent of a child currently attending the academy, I feel a strong connection to the school’s success and its impact on our lives.

I am deeply committed to contributing to the academy’s journey, ensuring it continues to be a pillar of excellence within our community. My professional background lends itself to supporting the academy’s growth and success. I believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities, and I am eager to apply my skills and experience to foster an environment where every student has the opportunity to excel.

The academy’s dedication to nurturing not just academic achievement, but also social and emotional well-being resonates with my personal values. I am excited to work alongside fellow LABs, teachers, parents, and students to support the academy in its mission to provide a top-tier educational experience.

As a parent and a professional, I look forward to helping shape the future of our academy, ensuring it remains a beacon of learning, innovation, and community spirit.

Parent LAB Member – Ben Henry
bhenry@wixamsacademy.co.uk

My name is Ben Henry, most of you will know me already through my role in Wixams Wanderers, where we have approx. 420 local children play football weekly. My wife Claire and I have four children, two of whom currently attend Wixams Academy, and two who will hopefully attend.

We moved into the area so our children could all walk to school. I have a strong commitment to education and I understand how schools operate. I would like to support the leadership team at Wixams Academy to make a positive impact on students’ lives: to help them ensure pupils’ progress academically, to help pupils develop as people and to have good access to extra curricular activities including a good sports field.

I will help ensure Wixams has the best environment for the students and teachers to work in to give them the opportunity to succeed to their maximum potential.

I will work collaboratively with parents, other board members, school administrators, and community stakeholders to make informed decisions that benefit the school and the local community.  Clear and effective communication is key to building trust and maintaining positive relationships, I also have experience in finance, budgeting, and health & safety.

Parents are welcome to contact Ben via email to bhenry@wixamsacademy.co.uk.

Parent LAB Member – Nick Kari
nkari@wixamsacademy.co.uk

I am a father of four, two of whom attend Wixams Academy and I am a Parent Rep on the Academy LAB.

I am a Chartered Accountant and currently work for a Financial Services company as the Director of Finance & Accounting.

I have a passion for education and continually drive to achieve better outcomes for children. I have always had this passion but it certainly came to life when I served as a parent governor at my children’s former primary school for 5 years. So when the opportunity came up to join the Wixams Academy I grabbed it with both hands!

Throughout my career I have engaged with procurement functions, in terms of seeking value for money services, contract management and tendering. In terms of property management experience, in one of my previous companies, I managed the cost base of their 300+ property portfolio so I am confident that I have many skills across all these areas to support the school. I also have the drive and passion to serve as a parent representative of the LAB.

My interests include Football (watching!), basketball, reading and cooking.

Parents are welcome to contact Nick via email to nkari@wixamsacademy.co.uk.
